About Harold
  • Education: High School / Esther, Missouri Trained in Electronic in the Army BA Degree / Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Arizona Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary / Fort Worth, Texas Southern Baptist Theological Seminary / Lexington, Kentucky University of Arizona / Tucson, Arizona Northern Arizona University / Flagstaff, Arizona Trinity Southwest University / Albuquerque, New Mexico
  • Experience: I have been a bivocational pastor for fifty years. I have worked in underground mining, Forest Service firefighting, public school teaching, and many other jobs to support myself in the ministry of pastoring. I served twelve years in a missionary aviation ministry in the southwest.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: They have always been given to me by the Lord Jesus Christ. If they will benefit you, you are entitled to them. They were given to me and I pass them on to you.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: My latest classes at Trinity Southwest University in the area of Hebraic Studies have made a great difference in my understanding of the Scriptures.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The electronic field offers many illustrations that help us to understand our relationship with Christ. One of those illustrations is a tuning capacitor. Our lives are like the rotating rotor blades that mesh with the stationary blades. As these two sets of metal blades mesh, we pick up different incoming frequencies. If we tune our lives to God’s frequency, we will hear His voice within our hearts. Jesus said it this way, Abide in my love, joy, and peace. It is up to us to cultivate the same.
  • Family: Ann Jenkerson / Wife Seth Jenkerson / Son Joseph Jenkerson / Son Charles Jenkerson / Son Esther Jenkerson / Daughter
  • What my parents think of my sermons: They are in heaven. I hope they approve. They raised seventeen children. Nine were boys. Dad knew that one of his boys would be a preacher. I am the only preacher out of the seventeen children. Mom told me that I was the one that they were sure who was not going to be that preacher. God works in marvelous ways!
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: My wife and children have always encouraged me by telling me that the message was about and that my style of preaching always kept them from going to sleep.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: As a young pastor my pastor, who was my mentor, shared with me that in my preaching always lift up Jesus and I would not falter in preaching. I have found it to be true.
  • Books that have had an impact: The books that have had the greatest impact on me are the OT Hebrew Bible, the Greek Bibles of the OT and NT, and all the books that have opened up to me an understanding of those texts.
  • Hobbies: Hiking, Reading, Researching, Writing
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus lives inside of you. Find out who He is and how He communicates with you.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: In a Sunday evening service in a small country church I watched the eyes of the congregation as they followed the mouse running back and forth across the platform behind me.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Following Jesus was worth it all!

According to the Bible a sovereign God has created all things. Where do that leave the individual? The word of God states that man plans his way, but it is God who disposes those plans.
