About Jan
  • Education: AFM Theological Seminary - Degree, BA Theology Western Orthodox University - Master of Arts - MA
  • Experience: Saved & Baptized in the Holy Spirit, at the age of 13, 1984; In Full-time Ministry since 1992. www.linkedin.com/in/janoosthuizen
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Reasonable, revelant and authentic. Scripture demonstrated in an incarnational, missional, relational way. Narratological, expository approach to Bible interpretation towards Cultural, Personal Transformation.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Denying of self; Kingdom Message; Seek first His righteousness; The I am Principle
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The inherent Resurrection life of Christ within is like a cork, it comes up by itself regardless of how deep you hold it under water.
  • Family: Chantál my wife of 28 years
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Informative, interesting, and possibly too long.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: I’m my husband’s most devoted disciple. He’s taught me so many practical truths. He is a great student of God’s word, very teachable, knowledgeable. It’s easy to listen to someone who’se devoted his life to Christ. I imitate him, as he imitates Christ. Chantál Oosthuizen, 3 October 2017.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Do not preach people wrong, preach them righteous.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Bible; God's Genius - Andre Pelser; The Character of Jesus - Edward Jefferson; The Jesus Life - Stephen Smith; Beautiful Outlaw - John Eldridge; Surprised by the Holy Spirit - Jack Deere; When Helping Hurts - Steve Corbett; Beautiful - Leonard Sweet
  • Hobbies: Playing Guitar, Photography, Garden Design, and Drawing faces.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Dying to Live!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: The pew broke under the weight of my fan-club from the Old age home, when they stood up together to respond to the altar call.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Disciple and follower of Jesus, lifelong learner and discoverer, a father and a son, a reformer and one continually being reformed into the Image of Christ.
