About Jane
  • Education: B.S. from the University of Arizons MA from Trinity Seminary Completing doctorate from Trinity
  • Experience: I have been the Director of Spiritual Growth since January 2004. I have been an "incare" intern since March 2003. I completed an earlier internship as a bible study leader in an inner city, drug/alcohol rehabilitation program. Since 1992, I have been actively involved in a number of other church ministries.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Although I create sermons on many topics, I often weave in one of two themes. First, when appropriate, I like to bring us into the current season. Because so many of us live in a city, we get out of touch with our natural surroundings. I believe that we benefit spiritually when reminded that we are a part of the cycles of God’s creation. Second, I like to remind people about the ongoing process of transformation and how we can/must particpate in our own santification.
  • Family: I have been a single parent of one son for many years. My son just turned 18, so I am looking forward to a new chapter in my life, where I can devote more and more time to becoming a minister. I live in Colorado Springs, a beautiful city that is within a days drive of many Rocky Mountain destinations. This past summer I ventured into Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. I am planning several return visits to that area. I also love going to Taos and the rugged San Juan Mountains in southwestern Colorado.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Practice, practice, practice
  • Hobbies: Camping, hiking

Work gets overwhelming. The people we work with seem hurtful and self serving. Yet, work is a place where we live out our faith--a setting where we must learn to be more Christlike.

This passage about Mary and Martha is familiar to many of you. It is fairly well known. It is a story about one women working in the kitchen and making preparations to entertain guests while her sister is involved in spiritual pursuits and assisting directly in the ministry of Jesus. I am going to start by talking about hibernation! I have been fascinated with the process of hibernation since moving to Colorado. I have learned quite a bit about wolves this year in preparation for a winter trip to Yellowstone. One of my favorite photographs of a wolf pack shows them traveling over the crest of a hill, through very deep snow. It is an aerial photograph, which shows an exquisitely organized approach to ...read more
