About jarrod
  • Education: I started off in Waterproof, LA at Lisbon Elementary under the administration of Noah Johnson. Later while life moved along perfectly, Mrs. Demetria Dix became the principal. In later years, I moved on to high school under the leadership of Noah Johnson once again. There I became highly influenced that life in college would be great for me due to the person who taught me very well, Mr. Caldwell A. Flood. I am now at Southern University majoring in Mathematics in which I will soon change to Criminal Justice/Pre-Law to become a judge. I am now being highly influenced by Mrs. Veronica Richardson and Mrs. Rita Hill.
  • Experience: I have been singing for 15 years. I have performed in diverse places over the US. Inspirational poems and stories have been written by me also. Public speaking, motivational speaking, and appearing as a guest speaker has been one of the most greatest blessings God has sent my way. I am now able to be an influence in people lives as a group.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Please pray before reading. Also please pause after stanzas to allow God to speak to you. My sermons are meant to be Read & Thought about not just to be read and forgotten.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The one sermon that made a difference in my life is "The Valley of The Dry Bones." My pastor (Rev. James Beverly) preached that when I was younger and he broke it down. In just a few sentences I will try and explain how it changed my life. He said how the valley was full of dry bones. (The people in the church who are not following God’s commandments.) And Lo they were very dry. (The people who know they are not following him but continuously do wrong.) Ezekial preached unto them and bones began to get life. (Preachers have to preach whether or not people are showing a reaction.) It goes on further, but I think that shows the preface of what I rec’d.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The little dogs follow the big dogs, but when they start fighting over a bone the little dog takes the bone and leaves.
  • Family: My Family is the Bottley/Turner family. We consist of over hundreds of people in my close family. We truly love and support each other. Many are highly educated, many are highly spiritual, many are highly motivated, but all of us are the same in each others eyes. Cleora Barden is the mother of the family and she has done a fine job at being there for us. Emma Lee, Roosevelt Bottley, Louise Bethel, CaSandra Bottley, Robert Bethel, Cherrie Ambrose, Orlean Washington, McKensy Turner, Cleandrew Barden, Freddie Barden, Edward Turner and Brian Bottley are just a few of the family members who keep me motivated.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My mother and father are behind me 100%. They judge not what God puts on my heart. But they do think that they are great!
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: My spouse, Loreal D. Jones-Bottley, thinks that my sermons help her through her every day life. She tells me all the time to kep pressing on.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Whether or not you have a crowd, preach. Whether or not you get paid, preach. Whether or not they want to hear you, preach. Whether or not you feel like it, preach.
  • Books that have had an impact: No book but the Bible plays a vital role in my life. I read other religious books, but the Bible has to be the most influential book. Other books are quite great I have to admit.
  • Hobbies: My hobbies include talking on the telephone, being on the computer, learning new things about the Bible, making friends, helping others, being a role model, enjoying life and Thanking God for every moment.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: ...how much God means to me.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: While speaking, I remember one time I was so nervous I got to the middle of the sermon and noticed that I had never gave the audience the scripture.
  • What I want on my tombstone: "The Man of God Laid On The Heart of God"
