About jason
  • Education: Sioux City West High School ’88 Northwestern College, IA ’92 Western Theological Seminary ’03
  • Experience: Lakeland Reformed Church Youth Minister 1992-2001 Crossroads Community Church 2003-Present
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Make them yours not mine. Preach to your context. Contextualize. Know who is listening to you so well that you give them what they need not what my people needed.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Extreme Makeover NASCAR Outreach Motorcycle Outreach "Build Your Life on This"
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Our God-Space hole in our soul is like the childhood toy where all the shapes are to fit into it. The circle in the circle and the square in the square. You can jam the circle into the square but it doesn’t fit right. In the same way people are constantly trying to jam the things of the world into their "God-space" and it suffices for a time until they realilze it is wrong and try something new. We are all restless until we rest in Him.
  • Family: I have a wonderful wife, Kris, who leads our children’s ministry as well as homeschools our four children, Joshua, Hannah, Gracie and Samuel.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Never heard them.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Always good. Just what I need to hear
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Be Real
  • Books that have had an impact: The Bible
  • Hobbies: Creatively planning outreach events Running, Biking, Swimming, playing with kids.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus loves you this I know for the Bible tells me so.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Jason...follower of Jesus...lover of family....maker of disciples.
