About Jean
  • Education: Bachelor degree
  • Experience: 23 years in prison ministry; Sunday school teacher for about 24 years.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: My hope is that you will be blessed and strengthened in your walk with the Lord, and encouraged to hold on through every storm, for there is none like God. I would that we would be encouraged to live a life that is holy and pleasing to God.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: A message that really made an impact on my personal life was preached by Elder Claud Parson at the Vegas View Church of God in Christ prior to 1985 entitled: "Gird up the loins of your mind, and pull yourself together". This made me see a need to stop complaining and work with who I am and what I was given.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: 1. God never promised us a rose garden, and even if He did, roses have thorns on them. 2. This too shall pass, trouble don’t last always.
  • Family: Married with children.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My parenst are deceased, my sisters and brothers love my sermons though. We also love our brother’s sermons as two of the three brothers are preachers. My oldest brother is my pastor/mentor and one of the very best Bible teachers there is.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: He never comes to Church although he doesn’t want me to miss going at all.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Get up and say what "thus said the Lord’ and sit down.
  • Books that have had an impact: I read so much I seldom remeber names of books or authors. I particularly like the book of Lamentations and often teach from the 3rd chapter.
  • Hobbies: Doing work on the computer, (making cards, etc) singing, reading, window shopping, vacations.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: God is good.
  • What I want on my tombstone: She believed God.

Paul was chosen by God, yet for the sake of the furtherance of the Gospel he had to suffer many things; he teaches us in the book of Philippians that we should rejoice in sufferings and anxiety, and rejoice in lowly service, with Christ as our pattern.

December 26, 1999 TRAVELER’S REST CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST CHOSEN OF GOD Paul wrote Philippians while he was imprisoned in Rome. He had visited Philippi on his second missionary journey, this was some time later, and the Church seems to have been well established at the time of this ...read more
