About Jim
  • Experience: I've been in ministry of over 20 years. Currently I'm a regular conference speaker, an author (The Just Church, Tyndale Momentum 2012), and in my day job, I have the privilege of directing the church mobilization efforts of International Justice Mission.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: I participated on a team that preached a series on the book of Jeremiah. It was a fantastic experience for the teachers and, I believe, for the church. My favorite moment was getting the assignment to preach on Jeremiah 19 where the prophet is instructed to smash a clay pot in front of the leaders of Israel. Powerful passage, but difficult to convey to a modern congregation. I'll post the result soon...
  • One of my favorite illustrations: That time I almost blew up an outhouse in rural El Salvador...
  • Family: Jim lives in the Washington D.C. area with is wife Jenna and their three kids.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Mission of God, Christopher J. H. Wright Interior Castle, Teresa of Avila Good News About Injustice, Gary Haugen
  • Hobbies: I love to work with my hands. Gardening, woodworking, cooking, knitting... you name it.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: It turns out that, in the end, God really can be trusted... with everything.
