About John
  • Education: Currently taking online Seminary classes in hopes of increasing my education in the field of Pastorial ministry as well as working towards my Counciling certifications.
  • Experience: I have been senior pastor for Staples Baptist Church for a little over a year and a half. Before serving at Staples I have served as an associate pastor at Golden Age Assisted Living, and supply preacher for First-Lockhart Baptist Church and various churches in and around the Lockhart, Texas area.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Please feel free to use anytime I post. I have written or said nothing that has not been said before. Please take note of thoe I have given credit to and if I somehow missed giving credit were due please let me know so I may correct the information.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: So many summer camps and promises made, so few kept. This time I made a decision and have seen it through up to know.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: so many I haven’t narrowedit down yet.
  • Family: I have been married for 16 yrs and have 2 lovely daughters.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: They tell me how proud they are and how much they enjoy coming and hearing me preach.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She says sometimes I give too many details. I don’t enjoy preaching without her in the room she is my best friend, and most honest critic.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Pray and pray often. Don’t ever be afraid to ask for help.
  • Books that have had an impact: A Case for Christ, Mere Christianity, Purpose Driven Life
  • Hobbies: I love the outdoors (Fishing, Hunting, Camping and Hiking) and I am an avid Ham Radio Operator (KE5DDC) as well as a weather spotter. Not to mention my wife and two girls.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Give Christ a chance, he will show you the love your seeking. Apart from him this world is too much for anyone to handle.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: still working on that...
  • What I want on my tombstone: He shared the love that was passed on to him.
