About John
  • Education: San Antonio College and Park College in Missouri, St. Paul School of Theology in Kansas City Missouri.
  • Experience: 20 years of pastoring churches as well as a couple of years as a Lay Speaker in the UMC.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I do hope that what I have written and said, makes sense to you and honors the Lord my God, for I do this for Him and no one else.
  • Family: There is just my wife and I now at home, we do have 3 daughters all with their own lives and in different parts of the country.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is my greatest critic, and is the one not afraid to tell me when she thinks I am saying something not right. She is also one who likes my sermons about 95% of the time.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Pray, Read, Study, Pray some more. Try to get a feel for what the people of that time would have heard and then bring it forward to our day.
  • Books that have had an impact: Fred Craddock - Preaching. An awesome book that taught me a great deal about preaching. The latest book I have read was The Jefferson Lies by Barton. I was amazed what I did not know about Jefferson and his Christian beliefs.
  • Hobbies: Golf, Gunsmithing.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Nothing, I have arranged to be cremated. God knows who I am and what I have or have not done.
