  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: "Critical thinking oft times blinds us to the truth within."
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: "Heaven’s Potsherd of Grace" by Edward Lucas (my Father) "The Kinsman Redeemer" by Tom Copple
  • One of my favorite illustrations: My favorite illustration is the disciples going to Jesus in the boat during the storm. They went with a bucket to have Him bail, instead of faith for Him to calm the seas. So many times we go to God and want Him to bail us out, when He really wants to calm the storm.
  • Family: Wife: Christy; Daughters: McKenzie Renae & JoLeigh Nicole
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My father died two weeks before he was to hear me preach feor the first time. My mother thinks I’m the greatest, but of course that’s my mother.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: "If you practice that thing on me one more time..."
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: "The mind can not absorb more than the seat can endure." "Preach the Word, whether popular or not, it is the only thing that will bring salvation."
  • Books that have had an impact: "Slouching Towards Gomorrah" by Robert Bork "Our God Is One" by Talmedge French
  • Hobbies: My wife and daughter, Golf, Reading, Archery, Music(Drums & Saxophone), Computer Gaming, Fishing, All manner of Mischief.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: If there were no Heaven and if there were no Hell, I’d rather live as if they both existed and I knew where I wanted to go.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I was not preaching, but I was sitting on the platform. My wife and I had just moved to our new church as Assistant Pastor/Youth Pastor. We had been there three days and had spent long nights unpacking boxes and getting our apartment in order. It was mid-week Bible Study and we had a guest minister who was not the most exciting speaker. After about 45 minutes of listening I feel asleep for 20 minutes. I just happened to wake up for the last 10 minutes of his message. My youth group refuses to ever let me forget.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Sausage and Pepperoni
