About Joshua
  • Education: I am currently a senior at the University of North Alabama. I anticipate graduation in May of 2004 and will receive a Bachelors of Sciences in Communications. I plan on continuing my education with a Seminary master’s degree. I am still undecided o where I will be going.
  • Experience: I’ve had a great deal of experince teaching youth and preaching. I have been preaching for more than six years now and have preached special services and also during regular service periods. I have also taught various youth classes for more than five years and I also served as Interim Youth Minister at Hillsboro Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama. Currently, I serve as Assistant Sunday School Director and I teach 9-12 year old Sunday School at Valley Grove Baptist Church
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I’m not one who writes much down before I preach, so this is the best I can remember of what I have said. I hope that somehow, I can help you in some little way. I always seek God before I preach the word, my prayer is you do the same.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: All sermons have some kind of impact. No matter who it is, when God speaks, I listen. I could never pick out one.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: My favorite is about the little crippled boy and the puppy. It is wonderful I would have posted it if it was not too long.
  • Family: I am not married and I am an only child. I am engaged to Rebekah, whom I will be marrying on December 4, 2004. Our Church family is a diverse group made up of various ages and backgrounds. Members come from various areas within thirty minutes of the church facility. The membership consists primarily of adults and a bustling children’s van ministry and youth group.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: The best advice I have ever been given is very simple. Be a bible preacher. The Holy Bible is our rock to lean on when we preach and we should be able to back up everything we say with it. I was always told to keep it that way and I hope I always will.
  • Books that have had an impact: Here I would have to say Max Lucado’s "The Applause of Heaven" and Phillip Yancy’s "The Bible Jesus Read." Both books touched my heart in a special way and I am indebted to the authors.
  • Hobbies: Reading, Computers, Being Outdoors, Learning, Movies, and Music.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: In all things... Seek God first.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Once, I got a wild hair and walked around the church in mid-sermon. You should have seen the eyes of those older traditionalists. I think that some of them would have fainted had a done it for more than a few minutes. (You Baptists will appreciate that... jk)
  • What I want on my tombstone: A good husband, father, and lover of God.

This is a short form of a sermon on the priesthood of all believers.

Pastor Who? Pastor You! January 24, 2004 Statistics show us that there are more than 2 billion professing Christians in the world.
