Comment to those looking at my sermons: I write almost every word I am going to say. I do not read my manuscripts, but I do have them with me in the pulpit for reference. This has been the most successful method for me through the years.

Best advice given to me about preaching: Expository preaching is based on three principles: Read the text, interpret the text, apply the text. Thus, expository preaching is centered on the text.

Hobbies: Spenidng time talking with my wife, reading, teaching karate at the church, working with kids and teenagers.
If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: God is Sovereign, Holy, Just, Perfect, Righteous, and Love. I am imperfect, incomplete, unholy, unloving and a sinner. But by His grace He saved me, in while I was still a sinner Christ died for me. By faith imperfect men can become justified in God’s sight. "For by grace we have been saved though faith" (Eph 2:8)
Something funny that happened while preaching: I am a large man, and I love to kid around about my size. During an evening service (where our attendance is usualy smaller and more intimate) I kept bumping into a microphone stand used by the worship team. I finally said, "We might need a bigger stage" and one of my congregants said, "or maybe a smaller pastor!" If I didn’t have a sense of humor, and a knowledge of that person’s loving heart, I might have been crushed!
