About Linda
  • Education: I have some college and a comprehensive secretarial course certificate. I also have some Bible college under my belt and am planning to continue my Biblical/Theological studies at the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Co, either on-line or in person.
  • Experience: I have much experience in the secular work world and the last 3 in the administrative assistant to the pastor world. I hold a local minister’s license in the Nazarene church and hope to go for my district license this summer. I teach in our membership classes and sometimes give sermons. I also lead a small group - called Care Groups in our church for the last couple of years.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Most were my trial sermons for Bible College class & I’m working on more.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The best series I’ve heard is the recent series in my church called The Recovery Series which deals with many issues that plague modern society and adults who have grown up in dysfunctionalism (which is most of us!).
  • One of my favorite illustrations: THis isn’t really an illustration but... ’There is nothing you can do to make God love you more... There’s nothing you can do to make God love you less’
  • Family: I am a single parent of 3 children - 2 girls both in college and a son in high school. I have no real family ties where church attendance is concerned. I’m praying for that to change.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Great! of course - they’re my parents!
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: NA
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Preach for a decision - for Jesus. (I was told I was definitly called to preach/teach by my pastor and others so my life focus is now to do this for God)
  • Books that have had an impact: The Bible #1 of course & Bible aids... The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell When God Doesn’t Make Sensie by Dr. James Dobson Battlefield of the Mind by Joyce Meyer The Other Side of Pastoral Ministry by Jack Hayford The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel Building Effective Lay Leadership Teams by George Barna The Purpose Driven Church by Rick Warren The Master Plan of Evangelism by Robert Coleman Hearing God by Peter Lord and... too many others to list! I read at least a book a week.
  • Hobbies: I love to read - esp. devotional/ Bible knowledge material. Hiking, Walking, horse back riding, swimming, church activities, praying with folks who are ill, teaching the Bible.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: I’m not sure how I WILL say it but I will put some urgency into the need to accept Christ before it’s too late!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I had the ’clicker’ to the overhead and got the slides all mixed up & out of order. I’m not mechanical at all.....
  • What I want on my tombstone: She went all the way to the cross for Jesus.
