About Matt
  • Education: I have graduated from Railton School for Youth Worker Training which was an unaccredited 2-year program that included a one-year field internship as a paid Youth Worker. I have an Associates in Applied Sciences from The Salvation Army College for Officer Training. I am currently enrolled at Asbury University for Non-Profit Management. I have a passion for Apologetics and Music. All other education has been text books, research, mentorship, and bible study.
  • Experience: My wife and I have a combined 15 years of direct Youth Ministry experience. I have been on the road traveling and evangelizing using my guitar, a friend, and the Word of God, just under a decade. I'd been preaching behind the pulpit periodically since 2009 until recently I have entered my second year as a regular preacher at The Salvation Army New Castle Worship and Community Center in Pennsylvania.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Teachings from Todd White, Ravi Zacharias, Mark Driscoll, and Allistair Begg have influenced me heavily.
  • Family: I have an imediate family of one younger Sister and my mother Debbie and my father Jeff. My parents are both Captains (Sr. Pastors) of a Salvation Army Corps (Church building). They minister in Lima, Ohio.
  • Hobbies: I like to think of myself as creative, dedicated, and useful. I have a real passion for music. I listen to and play a lot of it. My skill is on the drums and putting them to a melody. It's amazing how God works your life so that your gifts further his Kingdom, if you let Him. I'm married to a beautiful lass, Stacy Elaine Stacy with two kids, Stella and Connor. Building our home and learning to be "one" is a wonderful blessing and it makes me a better man. My plans for the future are to serve as on Officer in the Salvation Army, while playing music and using it as an education and evangelism platform, and contemplating further education in Music Production/Recording Arts and Theology.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Lost in the love of music, found in the music of love. With Christ.

The congregation may understand that each of them, by virtue of being a believer, have a spiritual gift given to them and that they are expected to use them in a humble fashion.

Introduction: This scripture implores the reader to consider the fact that any grace that they have been given has been given to them by God. It tells us not to think too highly of ourselves. If you have an obvious gift from the Lord, it's not because you're extra spiritual. As a matter of ...read more
