About Matthew
  • Education: I graduated from Edwards-Know Central School in Russell, NY with a NYS Regents diploma. I then joined the US Navy and have further pursues my education in the higher education system of life.
  • Experience: I have been to Europe twice as an Apostolic Missionary while in the US Navy, witnessing the gospel being preached all over the Mediterranean. I was baptized in Marseilles, France in 1991, just months after being filled with the Holy Ghost. After my enlistment, I moved to North Carolina where I have served as Youth Pastor for nearly 9 years at Landmark’s United Pentecostal church, where I will remain until Jesus returns.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Open your heart.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Willie Cole and Dewayne Lewis preaching and teaching Search for Truth Bible study aboard USS FOrrestal in 1991. Rev. Rick Olson’s Pastoral Ministry in 1992 in Jacksonville, FL. Pastor Kenny Marshburn’s Evangelistic / Pastoral Ministry from 1992 to present.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Concerning the Oneness of God and Baptism in Jesus Name. The titles, "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" are not names. When you sign a check you don’t put titles on it, you put your name!! To Baptize in the name of the Father, Son & Holy Ghost means to Baptize in the name; singular!
  • Family: I am married, to my beautiful wife Stacy; who has given me two beautiful litlle girls. Taylor Renee (5) and Macayla Christine (3).
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Haven’t heard many of them, but liked what they heard. I baptized my sister in Jesus Name in summer of 1999.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: My wife is my best supporter and critique at the same time. She loves to hear me preach and I value her advice and suggestions as well.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: "Anything you have to say can be said in 20 minutes", Kenny Marshburn "Preach your heart and you’ll do fine", Thomas Whitman "Listen to God always, He won’t steer you wrong", Barbara Whitman
  • Books that have had an impact: United We Stand, by Arthur and Charles Stanton The Oneness of God, by David Bernard Why? A Study of Christian Standards, by W.A.P. Elective Series When Ye Fast, by Joy Haney Before Home, by Kenny Marshburn The New Birth, by David Bernard The Left Behind Series, by LeHaye & Jenkins
  • Hobbies: God, Family, Church, Youth Ministry, Job....and in that order.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Seek the Holy Ghost!!!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I realized I had an unzipped zipper!
  • What I want on my tombstone: Here lies a man that fulfilled the Will of God.

A great message of the ONE TRUE Church that the Lord put into motion on the Day of Pentecost.

The church was started about 120 days after the death, burial & resurrection of Jesus Christ. The setting of this great Biblical scene was in Jerusalem, in a place the Bible calls the Upper Room. You ask what was that?!? An upper room!!! It was on a day called the Day of Pentecost, meaning 50 ...read more

A great challenge to the Youth of today; to obey and honor their parents, the way God intended them to do.

As I was preparing this message, I did not feel to preach tonight. In fact I felt to speak to our Youth. Mom’s and Dad’s, stick with us, I think you’ll like the direction I plan to take tonight. If you would stand (remain standing) in honor to the reading of God’s Word. Let’s begin with The Book ...read more

    I. Introduction Today we read a story that is all too familiar. A story that to some of you has become a way of life. Some of you were brought up on this story! There are some here this morning that have not lived the rest of this story out. Some that have strayed. To you, my challenge this ...read more

A comparisson of how the Children of Israel had to listen to God and Modern day Christians.

    I. Introduction – I will attempt to do my best to bring the message as God has laid upon my heart. I have struggled with this all week and in trying to find the heartbeat of God, I pray I will do Him justice. II. We are taught in studying the Bible that what the Jews of the Old Testament had To ...read more
