About Michael
  • Education: Diploma, Zion Bible Institute, 1989 BS, Omega Bible Institute, 2001 MTH, Omega Bible Institute, 2004
  • Experience: Youth Pastor, Warwick Assembly of God, Warwick, R.I. 1989-1991 Associate Pastor of Youth Ministries, Agape Christian Fellowship, Brattleboro, VT 1992-1989 Pastor, North Hinsdale Community Church, Hinsdale, NH 1999-current Ordained - Conservative Congragation Christian Conference
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Eat the meat...spit out the bones. Parting words from the Associate Pastor of my church when I left for Bible College. Remember, I’m human, not divine, and I have a flawed persepective.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The sermon that made the biggest difference in my life was not the sermon that was preached. At the age of 15, I was coping with the tragic death of my brother Peter. And a series of individuals, were living sermons on the Christian Life, and turned me on to Jesus... Thank you to Mark Wormwood who lead me to Christ... and the men of Agape Christian Fellowship who displayed Jesus to a messed up 15 year old.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: A story of a draw bringe operator whose job it is to lower the bridge for the morning train. One day he brings his son to work, and when the time comes to lower the bridge, his son turns up missing. The boy is stuck in the tracks, and the operator only has time to either: save his son, or lower the bridge and allow the entire train loaded with people pass by safely. He lowers the bridge, loses his son... a beautiful picture of God’s giving of his son.
  • Family: Pastor Mike and his wife Tina (who is a VP with TD Bank North)along with their two children Michael and Rachel have served at NHCC since May of 1999. What is interesting about the McCosker’s ministry is that they returned to their home town to serve the Lord. When Mike left Hinsdale in 1986 for Bible College, he told his mom to get used to it, I’m never coming back. God has a funny sense of humor, and both Mike and Tina returned to Hinsdale after a set of circumstances lead us home. As a family, Mike, Tina, Michael and rachel all serve at NHCC in one way or another.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Mom does not attend church often; when she does she gets all emotional... hard to tell what she thinks. Dad is a member of the United Pentecostal Church... we are so far apart theologically as well as philosophically that we don’t go there.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She spends most of her time in Children’s Church. she enjoys the sermons she hears and is quick to preach them back when needed.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Study as if it is up to you - pray as if it is up to God. I am an avid studier... and need to pray more.
  • Books that have had an impact: Anything by Lucado; Colson; or Swindoll. I also enjoy Bill Hybels - his book "Just Walk Across the Room" transformed my beliefs on personal evangelism.
  • Hobbies: Mike is an avid sports fan. I love going to Fenway, Shea, even the loathed Yankees. He currently coaches three sports for Hinsdale High School (Soccer, Basketball, Softball). I also collect Baseball cards. And enjoy my HO model trains. My favorite place in the world is Wells, ME., right on the ocean, with some fresh Chowda, or a good walk. Its a great place to relax and think.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: The only thing that matters IS THAT WE MAKE IT HOME. James Dobson
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: The humor is that God would allow me the privelage of serving Him... Think about it, what can any of us offer the Living God... but He choses us with all or our weaknesses and flaws... WOW
  • What I want on my tombstone: He Ran a Good Race!

There was a story once told while I attended Zion Bible Institute by a preacher in which I have no remembrance of, only his story.
