About Michael
  • Education: I attended East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, TN and Hiwassee College in Madisonville, TN.
  • Family: I am married to a true blessing, Heather, and have 5 wonderful children, Ashley, Dylan, Hannah, Emily, and Anthony.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My mom loves them. Though she reminds me to stay true to KJV.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Be prepared, do your homework, study, pray. Then just preach the Bible and God will take care of the rest.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Holy Bible, Living Your Heart’s Desire, The Power of a Praying Husband, When God Whispers Your Name
  • Hobbies: I enjoy time with my family first and foremost. I also coach soccer, and enjoy reading, writing, and playing the dulcimer and guitar.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus loves you.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I had been asked to visit and preach at a nearby church. With the change in agenda, somehow they introduced me to preach before they had thier children’s time. I was discssing the aspect of coming boldly before the throne of God, and that the throne was always open, just as the alter is always open. A 2 year old little girl took that as her invitation to children’s time since they sit at the alter when they have this, so she just came on up.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He’s home.

Worry is a natural part of our lives. We all do it. But what does the Bible say about worrying? It is time to put our worries into God’s 401(k) account.

401(K)ingdom Matthew 6:31-34 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “what shall we drink?” or “what shall we wear?” For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and His ...read more

I used to manage a restaurant in Blowing Rock, NC. Every time that my boss would come by to visit he would remark, looking down, that the baseboards were dirty.
