About Mike
  • Education: Rhema Bible Training Center graduate 1989. School of the Local Church graduate 1990. Bachlor of Theology Life Christian University 1998. Working on Master’s at present.
  • Experience: Pastor of Mentone Community Church 1985-1987. Outreach Minister of Odessa Christian Faith Center. 1990-1991. Pastor Abundant Victory Fellowship 1992-present.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: My hope is that the sermons that I submit will be useful. It is my desire to put them up in such a way that they will be Clear, concise, and correct. I would TRULY appreciate ’helpful critism’. I know how the layout of my notes help me to preach the message but unless others tell me how they did or didn’t help them, I will not know how to change the Sermon notes to make more sense to others.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: To date the greatest impact on my life after Salvation was a series that my pastor did on Righteousness Thinking. I had always thought of myself much lower than Father did. This helped me to see myself as God sees me, and it made a difference in how I related to Him and to others.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: A boy every day went by a Pawn Shop where a sailboat was sitting in the window. He would enter and ask the man the price & Every day it was the same. Everyday he would count the money he had and every day it increased by 10 cents. Finally he had enough and bought it. The man commented that it must have been special. The boy said that He and His dad had built it before His dad died. It had blown away while he was playing with it & it was more special now because it was twice bought. So are we.
  • Family: Married for 30 years to wife Frances. We have three children and three grandchildren and another on the way.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My Mom thinks that I am doing what I was born to do. She listen’s to all the tapes that I send her and shares them with her friends.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: My wife is always complimentary of my sermons, and says she receives from them. There are those that she enjoys more than others, they seem to be those ’How to’ ones with lots of illustrations.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: An elderly preacher in my home church told me to stay away from the 3 G’s. Girls, Gold, God’s Glory. As I have become aware over the years of other ministries that have gotten themselves into trouble, it seems that one (or more) of those G’s have always been in the equation that caused them to fall. It’s been probably the most valuable advice I’ve had.
  • Books that have had an impact: Christ the Healer by FF Bosworth The Name of Jesus by K. Hagin
  • Hobbies: Welding Crafts Golf
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Be faithful to your call. This is not directed to preachers but to all that are called by His name. We each have distinct callings that are so important to the overall plan of God. Only we can see to it that our part gets done, and that takes above all else Faithfulness. Jesus was so faithful that it was added to his name in Revelation 19:11. May faithfulness be such a part of our nature that those around us add it to our name. "there come ole Faithful"
  • What I want on my tombstone: He found something God wanted done in the earth and He got it done.

Then he proceeded to show them why they should do everything possible to avoid going there. I agreed totally then and still do! But ...read more
