Could it be possible that the gift nobody wants, is actually the gift that is the most valuable of them all?
Did you ever get a gift for Christmas that you didn't want? I have. When I was a Kid, at Christmas time, when other kids were getting foot balls, skate boards race tracks, etc. I was getting converse tennis shoes, pants, shirts, Etc stuff like that. Jesus Makes Bitter Better.

Only Jesus can take the bitter waters, the worst of life's circumstances that come to poison us and destroy us, and make us better.
As a couple exchanges their vows,( those vows include these words) for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, for better for worse. It could also be said: for better or bitter. Jesus was clear in his teachings that the devil has a kingdom, but that the kingdom of God is greater in power. But it’s our responsibility to access that power.
