• Experience: I have been preaching on and off for the past 7 years. I assumed the role of Abundant Life’s interim pastor on July 1, 2001. After a few months of serving the saints of Abundant Life, I was asked to become Abundant Life’s Senior Pastor on November 11, 2001.

• Sermon or series that made a difference: "Breaking the Power of the Past"
• One of my favorite illustrations: A young man applied for a job as a farmhand. When the farmer asked for his qualifications, he said, "I can sleep when the wind blows." This puzzled the farmer. But he liked the young man, and hired him. A few days later, the farmer and his wife were awakened in the night by a violent storm. They quickly began to check things out to see if all was secure. They found that the shutters of the farmhouse had been securely fastened. A good supply of logs had been set next to the fireplace. The young man slept soundly. The farmer and his wife then inspected their property. They found that the farm tools had been placed in the storage shed, safe from the elements. The tractor had been moved into the garage. The barn was properly locked. Even the animals were calm. All was well. The farmer then understood the meaning of the young man’s words, "I can sleep when the wind blows." Because the farmhand did his work loyally and faithfully when the skies were clear, he was prepared for the storm when it broke. So when the wind blew, he was not afraid. He could sleep in peace.
• Family: I’ve been married for 10 years, and have two children.
• What my parents think of my sermons: I believe they are just as amazed as I am that I am a pastor. I think they look at me and see a manifestation of answered prayers.
• What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: "My husband is totally anointed when he preaches. I often wonder if it’s the same person I am married to. I can see that God is using him to speak to others. He has great wisdom and knowledge and I find myself responding to his messages as a fellow Christian rather than a spouse who is ’proud’ of her husband. I find great fulfillment in sitting at his feet and sharing and listening to what God is showing him in the Word."
• Best advice given to me about preaching: No matter if you are preaching to 1 or 100,000, give them 100%.
• Books that have had an impact: "The Purpose Driven Church" by Rick Warren
• Hobbies: Studying the Word; NASCAR Racing
• If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Take what God has given you in your hand, and go forward!
• Something funny that happened while preaching: Once while preaching at my home church in NC, I was preaching and clapped my hands really hard to drive home a point. An older gentleman was sleeping, and when a clapped it scared him half to death and he woke up screaming.
• What I want on my tombstone: He was found faithful
