About Rick
  • Education: I am a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Trinity International University and Dallas Theological Seminary.
  • Experience: I have served as a prison chaplain, college dean, college and seminary teacher, and pastor. I have enjoyed teaching and preaching in various countries of the world including: Belgium, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore and the Philippines.
  • Family: Diane and I recently enjoyed a trip to Turkey, "the other holy land." The highlight was the ancient city of Ephesus which has been wonderfully restored so that NT history comes alive as you walk where the Apostle Paul walked. Our son David is a senior at Biola University.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Read yourself full, think yourself clear, pray yourself hot, preach yourself empty.
  • Books that have had an impact: J.H. Merle d’Aubigne, The History of the Reformation in England (2 volumes) by Banner of Truth Trust. A magnificent work written in the mid-nineteenth century, that every evangelical pastor should read. It will enrich your soul as well as your intellect and your preaching.
  • Hobbies: My son David and I are avid fly-fishermen. Each summer we take a father/son fly-fishing trip to Montana where we fish some of the greatest trout rivers in the world, including the Big Horn and the Missouri rivers, the spring creeks of Paradise Valley near Livingston, Montana, and the many rivers and streams of Yellowstone National Park.
