  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: My desire is that the information that the Holy Spirit has blessed me with will bless and help you, too.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Describing how a blacksmith takes such great care in buying good coal, choosing the right metals, and takes great pains to fire up the metal to the right temperature to be pounded out into a useful tool or trinket. Cross reference with Job 23:10 - "He know the way I take and when He has tried me I shall come forth as gold..."
  • What my parents think of my sermons: I’ll ask Dad when I get to heaven. My mom says that the two she has heard were "real good". She is just a tad prejudiced.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: They get better every time.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Do not neglect three things: Devotion to your family, Devotion to your devotions, Devotion to your call.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Genesis Record, Henry Morris; The Remarkable Record of Job, Henry Morris; The Signature of God, Grant Jeffrey; The Jesus I Never Knew, Philip Yancey; How to Handle Adversity, Charles Stanley; Bible Doctrine, Charles Ryrie.
  • Hobbies: Reading, writing, watching TV, sports, collecting old Coca Cola bottles and stuff.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: There IS a heaven to gain and there IS a hell to shun!
  • What I want on my tombstone: I have come forth as gold...

Fear is a very real emotion that seems to be hitting us all around these days. People seem to be more prone to fear and anxiety with COVID and it's new Delta variant. We should not fear to freeze us in place, taking our focus off of God, but we should rely on Him to help us through our fear.

Fear is one of those words that we know what it is, but it would be hard to sit down and write a definition of it. Definition: An unpleasant, often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger; anxious concern; reason for alarm or danger. We have had a lot of fear in the last ...read more

This message in Genesis tells us of man’s original sin. Our first message told us about the original sin that was committed by Satan. This message will focus in-depth into how Satan tempts us to doubt, deception and desire that results in damnation. Bu

DOUBT Verse one gives us a red flag warning from the very start about the character of Satan. He is identified as the serpent in this passage. This is an obvious case of Satan manifesting himself in the form of an animal. Angels are able to take physical forms; remember that Abraham was ...read more

If we are to make the most of our Christianity, we must realize that we are starving, stand on God’s word and take steps to glorify God.

In verse 97, the author says, “How love I thy law…” The word love here from the original language can mean “a human love for another” or “a human appetite for objects.” Sometimes, our affections and our base needs are very different, other times they are one and the same. Many people would ...read more

It is possible to be a follower of Jesus without being a disciple; to be a camp follower without being a soldier of the king; to be a hanger-on in some great work without pulling one’s weight. Someone was talking to a great scholar about a younger man. He said, “So and so tells me that he was ...read more
