Wisdom Is Shown To Be Right By Its Results ...
Contributed on Jul 4, 2020
Independence Day Sermon, July 2020, during the Pandemic - Responsibility is part of freedom
Reading of the Word: Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30 Sermon: The Freedom of Following Jesus - Wisdom is shown to be right by its results When I first looked at this passage I actually only intended to preach on the last couple of verses here on Independence Day Weekend. I actually verbalized it to ...read more

Undeserved - A God Who Loves Anyway
Contributed on Jun 12, 2020
In the context of White Privilege, we sometimes think God loves us because we are lovable. Quite the opposite, God calls us when we aren't worthy or even very lovable. Responding to a God who brings laughter.
Sermon: Undeserved • Sarah and Abraham were unworthy but God gave them Isaac (laughter) anyway. • We were undeserving, but Jesus died for us anyway. • If we know God loves us even if we are undeserving, how should we act towards others? I was speaking with a group of pastors this week about ...read more

Contributed on Jun 4, 2020
Written during the pandemic while chaos reigned in the streets and people protested as the church tried to reopen

God Of The Pandemic
Contributed on Jun 4, 2020
Paul confronts the Athenians with an Unknown God - that alter was placed for the God who removed the epidemic from Athens ... they wanted to know his name
Acts 17:16-32 (NLV) While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was deeply troubled by all the idols he saw everywhere in the city. He went to the synagogue to reason with the Jews and the God-fearing Gentiles, and he spoke daily in the public square to all who happened to be there. He also had ...read more

God Of All Creation
Contributed on Jun 4, 2020
In this world torn by pandemic, tragedy, and violence, we turn back to the beginning, to what God created us to be. Order out of disorder, light out of darkness, all of us made in God's image
Looking back over the last few weeks, perhaps the best word we can use is chaos. We have seen chaos as a disease struck our nation. We have seen chaos as hospitals have been overwhelmed and more than 100,000 have died. We have seen chaos as businesses closed and people lost their jobs. We have ...read more

Spite Fence ...
Contributed on May 2, 2020
I would like to tell the story of one of the most famous spite fences in the world. It is, by the way, one of the reasons why privacy fences are often limited to 6 feet. The story begins with two people. Nicholas Yung, an undertaker, who built a cottage in San Francisco in 1855 with his wife and ...read more

Casket Stolen
Contributed on Feb 28, 2020
Funerals usually go calmly. But sometimes things happen that change everything. Perhaps the greatest example is that of Easter morning, as the women arrive to prepare the body, only to find that the stone was rolled away and the body of Jesus was missing. There was much running around and great ...read more

Mad Mike Hughes
Contributed on Feb 26, 2020
Mad Mike Hughes had a mission, to launch himself into outer space. He believed the earth was flat, and the only way to prove it was to go up into space and take a photo of the flat earth. He did not trust others to document the truth, he would only believe it if he saw it with his own eyes. In ...read more

The Flu
Contributed on Feb 21, 2020
After one of our members came down with the flu, was in intensive care for 10 days, we became very aware of how easily it is passed, especially to our elderly members. Which brought about these thoughts. 1) You are 70% Less likely to get the flu (or pass it) if you wash your hands properly. ...read more
