About Rodney
  • Education: High school graduate with some college experience. I am enrolled at Baptist Seminary of Kentucky and attempting to get a Master’s in Christian Counseling.
  • Experience: I have been a youth pastor at a few churches in Kentucky. I am currently helping a pastor friend with his Young Adult Ministry. I help start a prison ministry at my home church, where I preached for 7 years. I am currently assisting with a counseling ministry for young people.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Feel free to use them any way God tells you to use them. If God says use the whole sermon than use it. If God says don’t use it than leave it alone.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: God allowed me to preach a 5 sermons in a series on "Who I am in Jesus". Impacted the way I see myself and others that are christians.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The story of the young man in the olympics that fell while he was running the 800 meters and injured himself badly. At the time of the fall, the young man was winning. trying to get back to his feet he was not able to do it. So his father came out of the stands, picked him up and finished the last lap of the race with his son under his arm. This reminds me of what God is doing for me.
  • Family: I am married and the father of 2 boys and 1 girl. I am the oldest of three children. I live in the city that I grew up and so I am surround by aunts, uncles and many cousins.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My mother is a support of my ministry and preaching, she has been a constant encourager.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: My wife has been a wonderful support but she also she is my best critic. She has helped develop my preaching style and challenged me to great ministry.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Before you preach, you need to ask God to save you from you, so that He may show through you. Advice given to me by a older preacher that struggled with believing what people said about his preaching.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Holy Bible by God, Bondage Breaker by N. Anderson, Maximizing the Moment by Jakes, Knowing God by Packard, Whens Shepherds bleed by Jakes, The Cost of Discipleship by Bonhoeffer,
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus loves and cares for us, don’t believe me look at the cross.
  • What I want on my tombstone: Rehoboath:The Lord has made room and made me fruitful.
