About Spencer
  • Education: Master of Divinity, Guadalupe Theological Seminary and College, Seguin, Texas
  • Experience: Associate Minister – 3 years – Licensed for 19 years, ordained for 14 years. Aircraft Machinist - 19 years.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Pray for me and I’ll pray for you.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: The Eagle Stirreth Her Nest" by Rev. C. L. Franklin
  • One of my favorite illustrations: "Race with the old man called time"
  • Family: Married to Marieta for 18 years. Two daughters—Tamika and Jasmine
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Both passed away prior to my preaching but not to calling. I will find out when I meet them in heaven.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She is extremely critical (in a good way) and so I don’t ask in order to spare my feelings.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Lean wholly on the Lord, pray, pray, pray!
  • Books that have had an impact: “Preacher, Wait Your Turn!” by Evangelist Manuel Scott, Jr. and "Preaching Through A Storm" by H. Beecher Hicks, Jr.
  • Hobbies: Reading, reading, and more reading.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: It is all about Jesus! And not ourselves.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: Dropped sermon notes before the whole congregation, which was more embarrassing than funny when I think about it.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He really did try.
