About Steve
  • Education: Some College
  • Experience: 33 years of ministry experience mostly as Minister of Music and Church Administrator. While I have many years of experience in ministry, I wasn’t licensed into ministry until 1994. I was ordained being called as a Senior Pastor in 2005.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Feel free to email me with your comments, suggestions, and/or criticism. If something that God says to me helps you, fantastic. If something God says to you helps me, thank you very much!
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Ephesians has literally changed my life and my perspective on ministry itself. The last 3 chapters say so much to us as the type of "walk" that we as believers in Christ should walk. It has changed my approach to ministry.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: A bus driver and a minister were standing in line to get into heaven. The bus driver approached the gate and St. Peter said, "Welcome, I understand you were a bus driver. Since I’m in charge of housing, I believe I have found the perfect place for you. See that mansion over the hilltop? It’s yours. The minister heard all this and began to stand a little taller. He said to himself, "If a bus driver got a place like that, just think what I’ll get." The minister approached the gate and St. Peter said, "Welcome, I understand you were a minister. See that shack in the valley?" St. Peter had hardly gotten the words out of his mouth when the irate minister said, "I was a minister, I preached the gospel, I helped teach people about God. Why does that bus driver get a mansion, and I get a shack?" Sadly St. Peter responded, "Well, it seems when you preached, people slept. When the bus driver drove, people prayed."
  • Family: Wife and 4 Children
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Get it down, Get it in, Get it out! We set they table - They have to decide to eat. From Dr. Roy McClain
  • Books that have had an impact: Courageous Leadership by Bill Hybels from Willow Creek Developing the Leader Within You by John Maxwell
  • Hobbies: Golf, Woodworking
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Realize today that life is not about you. Eph 4.1 says that we are to imitate Christ and Christ said that He came to serve and not to serve. Don’t waste your life thinking and dwelling on what life can give you. Instead learn what real joy is by asking what you can give to life. Serve the Lord because you love Him. It’s not about you. Learn that early and you will learn true happiness and true joy!
  • What I want on my tombstone: God’s Servant
