About Steven
  • Education: I am a student at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth Texas hoping to graduate with my Mdiv soon. I have a degree in Business Management from Lewis and Clark College I have a Degree in Organizational Leardership from Greenville College. I am also a certified Auditor for ISO and QS9000 with the RAB.
  • Experience: I started out as a Communication Specialist with the 10th Special Forces Group now known as the 10th Mounain Bergade. I then got out of service and went to work for Eastman Kodak repairing mainframe computer systems. I then started working for IBM as a sales man. Afer that I worked for American Rail Industries in a corporate executive position as their Quality Assurance Manager. I then left the corporate world for the ministry. I have been a pastor for 3 years now and started with both Friendship Baptist church (a mission at the time) and First Baptist Church of Fieldon. We have seen Fieldon grow from 13 to 60 in average attendance and have seen over 70 come to know the Lord through the ministry.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Enjoy... When Christ said to the least of thes he was talking to me.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Ready or Not Here I come... Extreme Faith... Choose Life... My personal testamony. Get Out... Series... The Life of Christ a 6 month series James..."How now shall we live"
  • One of my favorite illustrations: The one about Bill, the boy that came to the church in a tee shirt and holy blue geans. The one about the train and the bridge that needed to be moved and locked in place. Chuck Swindolls story about the Life Saving Station.
  • Family: I have a wonerful and beautiful wife Becky, and 4 children. Our oldest is a son he is 9 and his name is Troy Our second is a girl she is 8 and her name is Alyssa Our third is a boy who is 6 his name is Timothy Our forth is a girl who is 3 and her name is Abby
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My parent never got to hear me preach they died when I was in my early 20’s
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Most of the time she is just boared... No She is very helpful and enjoys the illustration. She was the first one that I ever Baptized as a new believer.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Preach the Word and then Duck!!! Preach you must not unless Preach you must. It doesnt matter if there is 3 or 300 preach like there is 300.
  • Books that have had an impact: How to Thrive as a small church Pastor... Amen and Amen The Winds of Revival The 7 Promisis of a promise Keeper and the Awsome Power of Shared Beliefe. Fresh Wind Fresh Fire Experiencing God
  • Hobbies: I use to play Golf before I got into the ministry... Havent played in almost 2 years.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Let us have a passion for the lost... We may be the only Jesus they will ever see.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: When I was baptizing a young man he slipped down the stairs. Then when he went to walk back up he slipped again... Once I grabed the mic while in the baptistry, "Don’t do that" The congregation found it quit funny. My youngest son came to me on the platform and with the mike on telling me that she needed to use the potty.
  • What I want on my tombstone: He was found faithful to the end
