About Thomas
  • Education: High School - Shades Valley in Birmingham, Gratuated from Shorter College with a BS in Ministry Studies.
  • Experience: Now Serving New Bethel Congregational Methodist Church in Silver Creek GA. I served 19 years as a UMC pastor in the North GA Conference.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: I pray you feel as blessed and greatful for God’s love as I do!
  • Family: Married with three adult children
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Dad sez as good as anyone he has heard....But he is DAD. Mom sez she is proud of me, but she has a confused look on her face, like is this my son? The shy one that never wanted any public attention. Ok What have they done with My son?
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Like some of them, prefers not to comment on the rest.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Preach as long as you want, we leave at 12.
  • Hobbies: Camping
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: It is amazing, God Loves you and He even loves me.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: To keep the children quiet during the service one mom bought a couple of vibrating pens. They have several colors of ink and the children use them to draw. An older sister handed it to their infant brother, he dropped it, when it hit the hard wood floors it skipped and hopped all around the floor and was difficult to catch. It made a awful racket and a big commotion as mom and dad, grandma and several kids scrambled around trying to catch this demon filled object. Somehow those pins and pads have not returned.
  • What I want on my tombstone: That new body looks so thin!

The culture has problems with all kinds of authority. They question when anyone finds authority in the Bible and are offended when anyone else does.

Offensive Nature Today we are going to examine another of the many problems our culture has with Christianity. There are a lot of intelligent and well educated people that have firm opinions about people/Christians that claim the Bible as the central truth of faith. Perhaps I need to be ...read more

We want to control the cost of inviting people to an event. We don't know why people need an invitation to our church, so we don't accept the cost of inviting outsiders into the church.

Who to invite? It is pretty amazing how many special occasions all of us are involved in. There are birthday parties and graduation parties, block parties , retirement parties, 4th of july, labor day. I have been blessed as a pastor to be involved in lots of special occasions for families. ...read more
