• Education: Bachelor of Divinity (University of Glasgow) 1999 Certificate in Counselling Skills (Strathclyde University) 2009
• Experience: Most of my experience has been in Coatdyke Congregational Church, however most of my preaching began in The (Presbyterian) Church of Scotland. I found myself in demand for freelance preaching, being invited to churches all over the West and Central Scotland to lead worship. This locum cover, provided me with great insight into differences in culture and traditions, which can be found only 5 miles from a sister church, affirming my belief that all are different.
• Comment to those looking at my sermons: I struggle because I am dyslexic and wish I could be clearer with my writing skills but I'm learning to articulate this better nowadays - perhaps my final ever sermon will make sense!
• Sermon or series that made a difference: The story of the Shepherd in the field, based on the 23rd Psalm.
• Family: Married to Tracy, two beautiful young daughters.
• Best advice given to me about preaching: Preaching should be like a woman’s mini skirt - short enough to keep an interest, long enough to cover the essentials! From a Roman Catholic Priest!
• Books that have had an impact: "No better than I should be, the making of a minister." by the Rev’d Jimmy Dow and "God’s Conman" a biographical account of the late Rev’d Jimmie Currie
• Something funny that happened while preaching: Whilst leading worship, I used the old hymn, When the roll is called up yonder... I’ll be there." I got so enthusiastic, that I pointed straight to the floor of the church when I got to the "I’ll be there part." Perhaps it was a sign of things to come for me!
• What I want on my tombstone: He wanted cremated!
