  • One of my favorite illustrations: Our son, Ryan, has had over 30 surgeries in the first 15 years of his life. When he was about 8 years old, he was in the hospital for another surgery. The medical staff had already given him the “Barney Juice”, a purple liquid with something like morphine in it. The medical staff then began to roll his surgery bed to the operating room. As usual, we accompanied him to the two big doors that led to the place of surgery. That is where we stop, and tell him all will be “ok” for the last tim

  • The Dangers Of Religion

    Contributed on Feb 9, 2017

Paul addresses the dangers of hiding behind religion to avoid a relationship with God.

Last week, from Romans 1, we saw how people get so far from God, God gives them up to their vile choices and futile minds. That is the most tragic story in the Bible. We pointed out that all of us are susceptible to the same spiral stairway. Even believers, even Churches, can become cold towards more

  • A Light In The Darkness

    Contributed on Dec 1, 2015

The region that Jesus began His ministry brings to us some great truth about the Kingdom of God.

A Light in the Darkness Matthew 4:12-17 Ill. Driving through Texas, a New Yorker collided with a truck carrying a horse. A few months later he tried to collect damages for his injuries. "How can you now claim to have all these injuries?" asked the insurance company's lawyer. "According to the more

  • Lord, You Are Majestic!

    Contributed on Mar 11, 2015

Everything about God directs us to surrender and praise, and only fools will fight him.

Lord, You Are Majestic Psalms 8 Picture a young boy, alone with sheep in the desert, late at night. In the utter darkness of moonless nights, the only lights were in the heavens above. Far away from city lights, with a clean atmosphere, the sky must have been dazzling. David stood in awe and more

Our God is worthy to be praised and certainly be trusted, as it states clearly in Psalms 33.

Who can we trust Psalm 33 (1-22) Psalm 33 shows us that purity of heart produced by complete forgiveness leads to that intimacy with God which leads us to be guided by His eye, instead of our eyes. What does complete forgiveness create in His people? That can be seen best, not only by the more

  • Don't Be Impatient

    Contributed on Apr 15, 2013

DON'T BE IMPATIENT When I was a teen-ager, my mom finally gave in to my dad. After mom and dad bought our Christmas, dad talked mom into allowing us to open the gifts days, sometimes weeks early. Contributed on Apr 4, 2013

GOD IS ABSOLUTE If we bought a new piano or a new organ and moved it into the sanctuary, we would need to tune it, or everything else, typically. The impression is that there are differences in how the instruments are tuned. If the new piano is tuned a little higher than the old equipment, then more

NO REPLACEMENT REFS Matthew 7:22 On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?'
