About Timothy
  • Education: Pastor Tim is an ordained minister, graduate of Berean College of the Assemblies of God, Victoria College and Rio Salado Community College. He has completed course work at several colleges and universities in Texas. His education is in Criminal Justice and Church Ministry. Pastor Beverly is a licensed minister, a Certified Anger Resolution Therapist, a forensic interviewer, crime victim advocate working with women and children that are victims of violent crime.
  • Experience: Pastors Tim and Beverly have served in church ministry for over 28 years. Six years as associate pastors and 19 years as pastors in the Seadrift, Texas Assembly of God.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: May God bless you and use you for His glory. Please adapt these messages as you desire for the glory of God.
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: A series by Pastor Tim Smith on "The Life of King David" and "A Study of the Book of Job" by Pastor Tim Smith. I was very blessed during the preparation time of both series. A sermon booklet titled, "The Blessing of Possessing Nothing" by Rev. Melvin McKnight.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: A video of a young man with many "sins" (words of sins) i.e. lying, stealing, cheating, cursing, anger, frustration, etc. written on his arms and body. As the video progressed, the words describing the sins were erased from his body and then written on a cross that he was kneeling in front of. It was very moving.
  • Family: Pastors Tim and Beverly Smith have been married over 37 years. They have three children, Tim, Jr. and his wife, Rhiannon with their son Ian. Their daughter Leanne Payne, her husband Rev. Kyle Payne and their children Kynzee and Korbyn. Tim and Beverly's youngest son is Matthew. All three children are grown and on their own.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: My Mom loves them.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She loves them.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: "There is no demand for long winded preachers." Rev. D.L. Blackburn in 1987.
  • Books that have had an impact: The Bible and many others.
  • Hobbies: Tim and Beverly enjoy golf, walking with their two dogs, sightseeing, and antiquing.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus Loves You!!!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: A lady was sitting in the second pew near the center aisle. I was standing near the first pew speaking to the church prior to starting my message. A mouse ran out of her purse, down the aisle, and under my feet. The lady screamed, some other ladies screamed and I jumped allowing the mouse to run past me. Everyone laughed for a long time. It was embarrasing for the lady but funny for everyone else. For several weeks people asked to see what she brought to church in her purse.
  • What I want on my tombstone: "A Servant, A Husband, A Father, A Grandfather"
