About Tony
  • Education: I was educated in the Iredell County Public Education System in Iredell County, NC. I attended Cool Spring Elementary School, and graduated from North Iredell High School in 1974. We moved to Chattanooga Tennessee and graduated from Tennessee Temple College in 1984 with a BRE in pastoral studies. In 1996, I graduated from Emmanuel Baptist University with a Master of Arts in Divinity.
  • Experience: I have been preaching 36 years since 1980. I began pastoring in 1985 some 31 years ago. I have had five pastorates. They are: Maranatha Baptist Church, 1985-1988, Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1988-1997, Rodgers Park Baptist Church, 1998-2005, Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2005-2008, Command Baptist Church, 2008-present. I am active in music, teaching, Good News Club and missions.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Use it anyway you can. Flesh it out and make it yours.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: John 3:16 makes a cold boy warm, a dirty boy clean, a hungry boy full and a tried boy rested.
  • Family: Hi. My name is Tony Fox from Statesville, NC. There are four in the Fox family. It is me, (Tony), and my lovely wife (Dawn), and our grown children (Gina) and (Steven).
  • What my parents think of my sermons: I don't know. Mom doesn't hear me preach and Dad's in Heaven.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: She says I am her favorite preacher. I hope she means it
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: My mother probably gave me the best advice about preaching. When I first began preaching she said: "Tony, if the Holy Spirit is leading your preaching, preach till He tells you to quit. But, if He is not in it, close the service and go home."
  • Hobbies: I love to walk and work. I also enjoy fishing and hunting, guns, and am thinking about taking up kayaking.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Heaven is Sweet, Hell is hot, God loves you, Jesus died for you. Love the Lord your God with all of your heart, mind, soul and strength!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: The funniest things that have happened to me while preaching is to get my tongue tangled and say something I did not mean to say. I knew it didn't come out right because people were laughing when I wans't trying to be funny.
  • What I want on my tombstone: "His hand clave to the sword."
