TO KNOW THE LORD

The Greeks embraced theoretical knowledge. To say a Greek who knew a flower, he went to the library, studying everything encyclopedias and books talked about the flower and said: "I know the flower."

John does not. To say that he knew the flower, but read the books, he went to the field, touched the flower, felt flower, the flower smelled, fondled her and then said: "I know the flower."

Knowing, for the Greeks who lived in the time of John, was accumulating theoretical knowledge. Knowing, for the beloved disciple, was a life experience.

Theoretical knowledge can help when things go well. The experimental knowledge is in turn the only solution to a crisis. Most of the disciples was limited to hearing the words of Jesus. John went further: Master and was near the head reclined in the heart of Jesus.
