The fairy tale of Cinderella is one of a beautiful young lady whose mother passes away and her father remarries a woman who is domineering and haughty. This arrogant and puffed-up woman who had two daughters that were just as obnoxious as she. This beautiful young lady and her father were by no means poor but were a well-to-do family and she dressed the part and her beauty was radiant. However, because her new stepmother thought to promote her own daughters the three of them treated this beautiful young woman as though she was an indentured servant.

The stepmother and her two loathsome daughters assigned this young lady every demeaning chore around the home they could find. She would not complain of the treatment to her father because she knew how her stepmother was controlling. She took the room in the loft that had no bed but hay for her to lie in. When she finished her chores she would cuddle in the corner near the cinder burning fireplace and the grunge would rest on her clothes and face, thus given the name Cinderella.

One day the King was having a soiree to find a suitable bride for his son the Prince. All the women in the village were invited. Even though Cinderella was invited her arrogant stepmother would not let her go and her callous stepsisters teased her because of it. Nevertheless, because Cinderella was so kind, she helped her stepsisters prepare. And when they left for the Ball she cried in hopes of going herself. Her fairy god-mother heard her crying and beautified Cinderella to go to the ball. When she arrived, everyone was captivated by her beauty but did not know it was Cinderella. Cinderella’s beauty was so enthralling that the Prince himself did not pay attention to anyone there but her. Because of the time constraints placed on the magic of the fairy god-mother, Cinderella had to leave with haste. Nonetheless, Cinderella used the open invitation to attend the ball as she desired.

Although you may have faced the dejections, despondencies and sadness of this life you do not have to stay curled up near the fireplace getting masked with the soot and dirt of your hardships. Jesus is having a wedding feast and He has extended and open invitation for you to come. You do not need a fairy god-mother to get you ready; all you have to do is come. All you need is an invitation to come. For Jesus has stated, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt 11:29). The summons has been extended to you. You no longer have to be subject to the arrogant attitude of the enemy because there is joy in the Lord. By the way, the ending to Cinderella’s story is that she married the Prince from the Ball. The Bridegroom (Jesus) is getting ready for His Bride… will you accept your invitation?
