My Daughter Corrected Me
Contributed by K M Srinivas on Aug 12, 2013 (message contributor)
On a Sunday morning, we got into car to go for Church Service. As our regular custom, I will play Christian Songs along the way to Church and will sing together. It just happened that this particular Sunday we were getting late and as did not play the songs. My 3yr daughter Samuella said "Dad, can you play songs"?. I grabbed the CD and put into the player and nothing happened. I noticed there was some error and I told my daughter that I think its spoiled. She said "It is because of low battery"? She was thinking that it works the same way as a smartphone or a tablet. I said "This played does not have battery problem. I guess the CD is spoiled." The next second, my daughter said "I think you put in upside down". I wanted to turn around and say that "Your daddy knows how to put the CD", but before I could say that my wife said "Check it". As I Pressed the Eject Button, I saw that the CD was indeed upside down. I just smiled and turned it upside down to insert it correctly. I was astonished that I missed out such a small key thing and my daughter noticed it. She even corrected me.
It reminded me of the Christian life we live everyday and we miss our small things. Many times they are important and are highlighted or shown to us by God through young people in faith. But many times, our pride and ego blocks the view to see the things from their perspective. I was truly humbled that day. As a Father, I can be wrong in many ways and it takes lot more humility to listen and see the things from the perspective of small little Children.
