Until I became pastor of Calvary, I had only been a member of two other churches. In those churches, I had the opportunity of observing the pastor’s wives, Mrs. Rice and Mrs. Sightler. Dr. Rice and Dr. Sightler were great leaders. But their wives were not in the forefront at all. They didn’t sponsor every event, lead every women’s committee. Some churches try to hire two staff members for one salary. Shame on them. No, these ladies exemplified a meek, quiet spirit. And in the sight of God, this is of great price. (1 Peter 3:4)
