You and I, too, may be lying in a bed of ashes. Like the devout men of the Old Testament, we dress ourselves in the sackcloth of despair and sit anxiously waiting for something new to happen that will allow us to rise of the ashes into freedom, out of dying into life.

Haven’t we sat in our piles of ash long enough? Isn’t it time we rise to our feet, stand tall and reignite the flame of God’s love once again in our souls? Don’t we want God’s mercy? Is there any hope for us? Can we be righteousness in the eyes of God? Don’t we, too, want to revel in a new found passion? Do we not long to raise our hands in worship and discover the faithfulness of our Heavenly Father?

Remember, the fire is raging once again! The flames have engulfed the world! The tomb is empty! Jesus lives forevermore! The stone’s been rolled away and there is life beyond death’s door! So, let the victory-chorus swell; the tomb is empty! Yes, the tomb is empty! And Jesus is alive and well!
