Please notice that Paul did not pray for these Christians to get the Lord’s resurrection power. They already had it! And Christian, so do you. So, how well do you know the power of His resurrection? Paul prayed for them to spiritually know and see the power they already had.

*It actually reminds me of “The Beverly Hillbillies.” I guess most everybody has seen that classic sitcom. You can still see it on TV Land. The lyrics to the theme song tell you what you need to know. A lot of us could probably sing it by heart:

-Come and listen to a story about a man named Jed

-A poor mountaineer, barely kept his family fed,

-Then one day he was shootin at some food,

-And up through the ground came a bubblin’ crude.

-Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea.

-Well the first thing you know ol’ Jed’s a millionaire,

-Kinfolk said Jed move away from there

-Said Californy is the place you ought to be

-So they loaded up the truck and moved to Beverly.

-Hills, that is. -- Swimmin pools, movie stars. (1)

*A few years ago Forbes Magazine rated Jed as #5 on their list of the richest 15 fictional characters. Forbes gave Jed Clampett a net worth of $7.7 billion! (2)

*The point is that Jed was worth that much all along. He just didn’t know it. And most of us Christians have no idea of the spiritual power that belongs to us, because we belong to Jesus. How well do you know the power of His resurrection? This spiritual power can and will be invisible to us from a natural point of view. But here we see that it becomes more visible to us through prayer.

*Resurrection power also becomes more apparent to us the more we know the Lord. So in Phil 3:10, Paul prayed, “I want to know Him and the power of His resurrection.” The more we actively and continually seek to know the Lord, the more we will see His resurrection power at work in our lives.
