In a May 2005 report, USA Today says mothers enjoy their work as mothers, but they would like to feel more valued. 1 in 5 mother’s who took the survey say they feel less valued by society since becoming a mother.

The survey was conducted by the University of Minnesota, and the University of Connecticut. But of the 2,000 mothers surveyed (41% employed full time and 21% part-time), 33% said their ideal work situation would be working part-time; 30% said working for pay from home; and 21% said not working at all.

A not-surprising result of the survey said that 81% are "very" satisfied with life as a mother.
