One winter day in 1975 we were diving on an American submarine, USS Bass, off Montauk Point, LI. At a dept of 165 feet the visibility was not good. My dive partner became disoriented and wanted to return to the surface. He wanted to go up, but in his confusion, was trying to pull himself down the anchor line. He was snagged on a deck cleat, frantically pulling on the line thinking he was going up. I swam over to him, turned him around and pointed to the bubbles coming from his regulator. His only hope was to follow the direction of the bubbles. Likewise, we are to look up to the author of our salvation if we are to have any hope of getting out of the dark depths of sin.
