Talk about it...

If we are to talk about what God has really communicated to us, the Bible is now outdated according to the terms, scope and seal in the "new covenant". God himself, a.k.a.., "life-giving Spirit", is now with mankind. This is the Good News!

I agree that the Holy Spirit of the Trinity is the "life-giving Spirit" Who helps properly interpret and apply the Bible but I disagree with the statement, "the Bible is now outdated". THE BIBLE NEVER WILL BE OUTDATED! IT IS THE GOOD NEWS! It is applicable to every generation without exception.

The Bible does work. It goes out from God and accomplishes its divinely appointed work (Isa 55:11). It is God's power to bring salvation (Rom. 1:16; 1 Cor 1:18). It produces faith in the hearts of hearers (Rom. 10:17). Without the message of the Bible, it is impossible for someone to be saved, because it is the impetus for faith. After one is saved, God gives the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). Which continues to wield his sword (the Bible's word) in the hearts and minds of Christians to show them the way to the live and the right choices to make. So yes, the Bible works in conviction, conversion, and sanctification, just as God intended it to do. Phil, thanks for your great thoughts. This is not bibliolatry, but respect for the Word of God.
