World Series- Freedom from the Pressure to Perform

Just as a great baseball player can have a batting average of .300, so a vibrant follower of Jesus will live imperfectly. A baseball player that hits once or twice in a game is considered a skilled player. There is no need for perfection or anything close to it in the game of baseball. Likewise, the Christian can live free from the pressure to perform perfectly because of the cross. Their relationship with God is based on Jesus' perfect life and his death that paid the price for our sins. People do not earn their place with God, they simply trust Jesus work for them. This means that motivation to grow and be faithful comes from a place of being deeply loved, rather than out of fear.
