William Carey, often referred to as the father of the modern missionary movement. He was a brilliant man but came from a very humble beginning. At a dinner party one evening a man said to Carey, “I understand, Mister Carey that you once worked as a shoemaker.” “Oh, no, your lord,” Carey replied, “I was not a shoemaker, only a shoe repairman.”
