When we were young we did not have central heating and air. As a matter of fact I do not remember us having a window unit. What we had was a fireplace in the winter time and a screen door in the summer.

I remember that old fire place. If it was real cold we would put a blanket over the door way and all pile in the room where it was. Your goal was to keep it going as long as you can at night. Another memory was having a “fat liter” stump in the front yard. This was a think pine stump that had been in the ground for a while. It almost turned in to fuel. It smelt like fuel. You could use it as your starter to light the fire. So each night in the cold we would grab the ax go outside at cut off a chunk of fat liter. Fat liter was tough and you had to have a good sharp ax.

Over time that ax would get worn and we would have to sharpen it again.

Solomon in Ecc 10:10 reminded us of this If the ax is dull, And one does not sharpen the edge, Then he must use more strength; But wisdom brings success.
