William Pitt was one England’s great prime ministers and a great intellect. He was a friend of William Wilberforce, who was a great proponent of abolition because of his Christian convictions. Pitt was a nominal Christian, as most were in his day, but Christianity did not mean much to him. Wilberforce invited Pitt to hear the great preacher, Richard Cecil.
