Quality Of Life: Barna Research Group has uncovered a strong relationship between a person’s comfort with his quality of life and either his religious faith or socioeconomic status. 88% of adults claim they are either very happy or somewhat happy with their quality of life. 92% also feel integrated with or connected to other people, plus feel they have life under control despite social scientists claims that people are increasingly paralyzed by our stressful and highly complex and demanding society. Typical demographics have little impact on quality of life perceptions, but religious faith, education and financial affluence have a strong correlation. Nearly 90% of evangelicals are more likely to assert that they are very happy with life feel connected to other people and that their religious faith is constantly growing deeper. Atheists and agnostics are less likely to feel happy, connected or growing in their faith. Homes earning over $60,000 and having college educations are significantly happier and more connected than those earning less than $30,000 without college degrees. However, lower income/less educated adults are somewhat more likely to feel their religious faith is growing. (Barna Research 4/24/03)
