Here are some RULES TO LIVE BY - Marcus Aurelius, the great Roman philosopher, identified the following traits of a successful person: Consciousness of an honest purpose in life. A just estimate of himself and everyone else. Frequent self-examinations. Steady obedience to what he knows to be right. Indifference to what others may think or say.

The first point warned against CONCEIT - Every goose is certain she could lay golden eggs if only properly fed. But the bigger a man’s head gets, the easier it is to fill his shoes.

The second point warned against an unwarranted feeling of inferiority. Be neither a braggart nor one who expresses false modesty. Think about this: A friend once recommended to Thomas Edison that he hire a young electrical genius named Nikola Tesla. The young man - who was not exactly vain, but never tried to hid his talent - worked out well. Later the friend asked Edison, "Is Tesla as good as I said he is?" "Better," replied the great inventor. "He’s as good as he says he is"
