DAVID TRUEBLOOD ON DISCIPLINE

David Trueblood: "The one who wants to be an accomplished athlete must discipline his body by regular exercise and a strict diet. Otherwise, he or she will not be free to excel on the playing field or the tracks. The athlete who fails to train rigorously denies himself the freedom to go over the bar at the desired height or to run with the desired speed and endurance."

(David Elton Trueblood, The New Man for our Time, Harper Collins, January 1970. From a sermon by C. Philip Green, The Holiness of Grace, 4/29/2011)
