SHOCK IN HEAVEN
I was shocked, confused, bewildered as I entered Heaven’s door,
Not by the beauty of it all, by the lights or its décor.
But it was the folks in heaven who made me sputter and gasp;
the thieves, the liars, the sinners, the alcoholics, the trash.
There stood the kid from

What Is Heaven?
By Terry Barnhill
What is heaven,
and why such hope upon it?
Heaven is already here
By faith in Christ who brought His kingdom near.
"Carpe diem," said ancient Horace,
"quam minimum credula postero."
"Seize the day trusting not in tomorrow."
Our hope is in the

Walking through the storms of life
Facing all the strife
I realize that I am all alone
Facing the lighting and the crash of thunder
Oh How I wonder
Is there no hope of me ever going home
I was walking through the storm all alone.
Fear and despair all around

A poet said:
Wish me “Bon Voyage!”
As you do a friend
Whose joyous vist finds its happy end.
And “au revoir!”
Since though it come no more,

THE PARADE INTO HEAVEN
Jesus’ Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem marked the beginning of his last week on earth. It fulfilled prophecy and revealed his true identity to the masses. But I think it was more than that. It I believe it was God’s own gift of encouragement to Jesus.
As Jesus rode
START WITH HEAVEN
Randy Alcorn states the following: “Often our thinking is backwards. Why do we imagine that God patterns Heaven’s holy city after an earthly city, as if Heaven knows nothing of community and culture and has to get its ideas from us? Isn’t it more likely that earthly realities,

GOLD IN HEAVEN
There was a rich man who was distressed on hearing he could take none of his riches to heaven. He pleaded with God to make an exception. Finally, God said, "Okay, whatever you can fit into a garbage bag can be brought in."
The man immediately thought of gold. He joyfully went
GARLANDS OF HEAVEN
In India, whenever I preached I would get a garland made of carnations or roses or some other kind of flower. (This was done as a gesture of honor.) They smelled nice at first, but they were bulky and awkward (most of them would hang down almost to your knees), and after

THE HAPPINESS OF HEAVEN
In 1871 Fr. J. Boudreau wrote a short story entitled "The Happiness of Heaven." It's a story about a kindhearted king who is hunting in the forest when he discovers a blind, poor orphan boy living there. The king takes the blind orphan to his palace and adopts him as his

Heaven, an Inheritance
Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me. In My Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and

The Bible uses the word heaven 532 times in the Bible. The Hebrew word for "heaven" is shamayim and is plural meaning "heights," "elevations." It is found in the first verse of the Bible. "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" and in Gen 2:1 "Thus the heavens and the earth were

Paradise originates from the Persian language which means a beautiful garden but the ideal paradise is the King’s garden. Kings had beautiful gardens with exotic animals you wouldn’t see in that part of the world. It had flowing water and trees and was a place of serenity or peace. And when someone
I am not a camper. I spent one miserable weekend as a kid in an old, smelly canvas tent. It was designed to sleep 10, but 2 adults and 2 kids kicked, punched and threw sand all over one another all night. And that was while we were asleep. As I said, it was a miserable weekend.

There is no middle ground in our battle with evil. There are times when we must pick a side and take a stand. Truth demands a choice.

THE HEAVEN OF SERVICE
Dr. Laura Schlessinger writes: "I was out at my mother and father’s house, a seventy mile round-trip from my own, because my mother needed a little help. She needed a little help because my father, who has full-blown Alzheimer’s, had taped duct tape all over the three long

Last Sunday, right after church, when I got home tired and emotionally spent, I plopped into my easy chair and turned the TV on. The last few minutes of "Titanic" was on. In the conclusion, Rose (played by Kate Winslet) is an old woman. She lost the love of her life in the

The Wheat of Heaven
Taken from the stalk of Calvary
Placed within the dark, cold earth
Silent lies the Wheat of heaven
There to wait resurrection birth
Left alone in fragrant seed coat
Till the time had come to pass
It would soon give way to victory
Life eternal sprang forth at

. A pastor was trying to teach a children’s class about how to be saved.
.”If I sold everything I have and gave it to the church, would I go to heaven?”
The children answered, “No.”
The pastor said, “Very good. That’s right. And if I worked hard at keeping the 10 commandments, would that get me

If anybody can ask hard questions, the award has to go to the Gracious Mistress of the Parsonage. She knows how to ask a question and, more importantly, when to ask a particular question.
Throughout our marriage, she has become an expert in the area of questionology. There is not a question I can
