When George Washington was inaugurated in New York City in front of the Federal Hall, he walked to the St. Paul Church and prayed for our country in front of the church. He declared, "The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained." He committed our nation and its government to the keeping of Almighty God. Years later, on Sept. 11, 2001, our nation was attacked on that VERY SAME SPOT (The Twin Towers - in front of St. Paul's Church) where Washington prayed and vowed to the Lord. Was God trying to remind us of the vows we made to Him that we have broken? It's time for our country to turn back to God. And that responsibility falls on the Church, believers in Christ. God said, "If my people, called by My Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from Heaven and heal their land." (II Chronicles 7:14).
